Proposals to develop Templemore Avenue School as a potential Network Centre for communities in East Belfast were boosted by a reception hosted by First Minister Peter Robinson MP, MLA in Westminster on 24 February, supported by the Prince’s Regeneration Trust. The Prince’s Regeneration Trust has adopted the proposed Templemore Avenue School/East Belfast Network Centre as a key charitable project and has been working closely with EBCDA to help with the funding and delivery of this important heritage-led scheme. The development of Templemore Avenue School will act as a catalyst for bringing life back to the area and raising civic pride. It has massive support from East Belfast MLAs and councillors, as well as the wider community and voluntary sector. The cost of the development is estimated at £4.5m with the funding coming from Government Depts, Trusts and Private Donations. Most of the finance is falling into place and final commitments should be confirmed by June 2010, with building work scheduled to start in Oct/Nov 2010.
